Gray wool skirt

This skirt features knife pleats and blue flower-print pockets. It took 1 yard of wool (~60" wide). This used the same construction and use of fabric as previous wool skirt (blue/gray check). 

1 yard gray wool pindot flannel that I got via fabric mart online.

A Late 18th to Early 19th Century Shift

I based this shift off of Bernadette Banner's example .  I decided to go with an off-white ecru/beige muslin fabric, rather than a linen, as she had made hers with. For my drawstring, I made a 5-strand braid out of a cotton twine that we had already. The Shift: Here is the schematic that Bernadette Banner provides in her video (linked above), I took a screenshot so that I could refer back to it more easily.  After washing my fabric and cutting all the pieces out, I followed Bernadette's measurements for the neck hole, 5.5" for each shoulder with the rest for the neck hole. The front has a depth of 4.5" while the back is 2 1/4" in depth. I rounded the corners of the neck hole. In the future, I think I'll make the neck hole a bit smaller as the shift slides off my shoulders if the drawstring is not tied. A wool skirt - blue/gray check

Finished March 2020 Using only 1 yard, this skirt features inverted box pleats and blue pockets. First I cut one selvedge off for a waistband (probably 3 or so inches wide). Then I cut the remaining fabric in half widthwise, sewed everything together including the pockets into the side seams, as I typically do skirts like this.  Then I attached the waistband and a hook and eye closure, and it was done! The fabric is lapis blue/gray wool/nylon small check flannel coating-weight by Michael Kors that I got via fabric mart online.

Another late 18th/early 19th century shift

 Finished May 24, 2021 Based on Bernadette Banner's pattern and my first shift changed: widened sleeves, made gussets slightly larger (3"x3"), rounded neckline, reversible (front to back), no drawstring body: ~91" x 24" side gore square: 39" x 7" (then cut diagonally) sleeves: 10" x ~16" gussets: 3" x 3" drawstring/ neck binding: 1" x 41" white cotton muslin fabric very comfy and loose-ish in arms and underarms neckline cut more rounded and slightly less wide so it did not require a drawstring so I used the fabric as a neckline binding but left the ends open so I could have a drawstring if I wanted. I cut the back and front necklines to be the same, therefore it is reversible front to back.
